This pedestrian trail combines two paths into one, starting in a small village where the Cascata do Segredo (Secret Waterfall) hides. The first trail features a steady incline, where we’ll encounter several dilapidated hydroelectric power plants and a water tank.
Upon reaching the end of the first trail, we seamlessly transition to the second trail via a considerably steep dirt road. As we come across a water channel, we’ll walk through a forest rich in endemic Azorean plants. After a 30-minute walk through the forest, we’ll be rewarded with an incredible valley landscape that leads us to a small beach. We’ll have a light snack at the beach.
After the break, we’ll return the way we came.
This itinerary may undergo some changes depending on the weather conditions and the physical abilities of the visitors.
This volcanic lake is surrounded by mountains and forests, and it is considered one of São Miguel’s best-kept secrets.
To participate in this activity, it is important to dress appropriately as the weather tends to change drastically throughout the day.
